Welcome to Beauty & Budgeting! I wanted my first blog post to be a mini introduction into the beauty element of my blog and to touch on some of the topics that I will be featuring in the upcoming weeks.
I have a huge passion for all things beauty and makeup. It started as a teenager and quickly grew into an obsession. 2011 saw an influx of beauty bloggers and YouTubers, which only made my obsession grow! With each make up product review I read, I would be off to Boots to purchase my new ‘holy grail’ lipstick/foundation/eyeshadow/mascara etc etc. I soon realised how unsustainable it was to have this habit, particularly on the limited income I had as a student. Fast forward to 2017 and my entire attitude towards make up products has evolved.
Quality over quantity
Gone are the days when I had drawers full of make up products. Don’t get me wrong, I still own a lot, but maybe 25% of what I used to have! I believe in understanding your skin’s needs and only purchasing products that are effective in delivering the best results for your skin, rather than hoarding lots of products because they are in fashion. It’s more important to understand and research the ingredients in products and how beneficial they will be to you. I put a lot more thought and time into selecting the best products I want to include in my collection and this is what I want to help my readers achieve also.
